Target Beauty Box August 2015

Target is back at it again with an unthemed box of slightly random things. I decided to give it a go!

Hair Food Moisturizing Mask – I don’t get hair masks very often and to get a full size one is great! I use these about once a week in the shower in place of conditioner just to get more intense moisture. I read that some people loved the smell of this (apricot and honey) I wasn’t wowed by it. I also felt like it provided just a normal amount of moisture – it’s not something I would buy again.

Fekkai Pre-Soleil Hair Mist – At the beginning of the summer I really wanted to try this and sadly now that it’s fall I probably won’t use it for another year. This spray protects hair from sun damage and adds shine.

Covergirl The Super Sizer Mascara by Lashblast – Another mascara! That’s the third in one month! This one looks very promising though with a completely stick straight brush. It got great reviews on My Subscription Addiction so I am excited to try it out.

Crest 3D Whitestrips 1 hr Express – I used to use strips in high school and haven’t since. It’s an interesting product to include in a beauty box. I will be happy to see some results from these.

Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizing Toner – I love skincare so I was really happy to see these. Toner I never get in boxes! This was a great travel size and the formula was very nice. I loved the scent of this product too – I would buy the full size.

Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizing Day Lotion – A wonderful lightweight day lotion except no SPF! I would happily buy other products from this new Olay line though.

Overall this wasn’t the most exciting Target box I’ve ever gotten and there were only three full size items. However the $7 price point is hard to beat. I always enjoy trying new products and that’s what these boxes are about.

Rocksbox #5

Rocksbox is such a fun subscription – each month they send you as much jewelery as you want to borrow! It’s $19 a month and if you want to get your first month free to test it out, use code ZARABFF5 when you sign up. Here’s what I got to wear!

photo 2-99

They changed the bow from black to coral – what a fun surprise!

photo 3-89

Perry Street Jane Necklace ($59 to keep) – I have gravitated away from sliver jewelry but this one is very fun! The bold blue design was fun to wear and different than anything I have. I wore it to my mom’s birthday lunch and she asked to borrow it!

photo 4-79

Perry Street Bethany Necklance ($44 to keep) – I tired to like this necklace but I just really didn’t. It’s silver and somehow this design just doesn’t work for me. I also wish they would have send another brand rather than two from Perry Street.

photo 5-70

Kendra Scott Fran Earring in Pink Agate ($52 to keep) – YAY more Kendra! I had been wanting hot pink earrings for sometime and these fit the bill! I had such fun wearing these that I had to keep them and use my shine spend!

I found another winner this month – keep em coming Rocksbox!

Birchbox for CEW Mass Appeal Box

Birchbox teams up with CEW each year to feature award winning beauty products. They offered a prestige box with higher end products and a mass appeal box that I decided to get. This box was $15 and is no longer available.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths 10 pack – Wow more face cloths! While it’s not an exciting item, I have used a cleanser from this brand before and liked it so I’m hoping these will work well.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara – Another full size mascara – not too exciting but always welcome! The brush on this one looks interesting and like it potentially provide a lot of volume.

photo 5-69

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands – Usually I love Burt’s Bees products (last year in this box I got a great lip gloss), but this one left me a little disappointed. The color was neutral which is not my favorite, and this formula I did not find moisturizing at all. There are other lip crayons out there that I like better.

Simple Skincare Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer – I like that right on the front of the package this says “no harsh chemicals, artifical perfume or dyes” which are definitely things I don’t want in a moisturizer. It is a super lightweight gel which I have never felt or used before. It’s a pretty cool product but the only drawback for me is that it does not contain SPF.

photo 1-102

Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl Eye Cream – I actually have received this product in a previous box and gifted it to my mom, but now I have one for myself! This is a swirl product that has a gel for moisturizing and a cream for brightening and illuminating. I don’t have a full size eye cream yet so this is a great addition to my collection.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask – I have gotten something by this brand in a Target box before, and I believe it is a Target exclusive. This brand is all about the power of water. You put this mask on at night and wash it off in the morning. I have used it several times and it feels very nice. This sample size was very generous as well.

Overall I enjoyed this box but it did not wow me because cleansing cloths, mascara, and the eye cream are generally repeat items for me. I was hoping the lip crayon would be a win for me but it wasn’t. Compared to the Target box which was $5 this one seems overpriced! I usually love Birchbox Limited Edition boxes but this one was a bit of a mixed bag.

Target Head of the Class Beauty Box

Target consistently has amazing beauty boxes, but they sell out so fast! I wish they would open up a subscription every month so I could be sure to get one! This box was only $5 and you get so much bang for your buck!

They always include a coupon for $3 off a $15 beauty purchase which is a nice inclusion.

photo 2-103

Yes to Cucumbers 10 count Facial Towelettes – I have bought a full size pack of these before and they are not my favorite wipes. Even though they are “hypoallergenic” I find that they make my skin tingle in a weird way when I use them (especially on my lips). There are other brands I prefer more.

Covergirl Colorlicious Lip Gloss in Give Me Guava – This was a surprising product that I love! This a a great gloss that is not sticky, provides shimmer and shine, and has a great candy smell. The color is a beautiful neutral pink. I am so glad I got this!

photo 3-92

Goody Ouchless Elastics – I can always use more elastics! The colors are fun and I found these to be very tight which is great. There is no metal so they are comfortable to wear.

Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Illuminating Dry Oil Spray – I have never used a product like this before but it adds a lot of shine and moisture. Be careful not to get it on your roots though! It has an amazing tropical spray that I love!

photo 5-73

Wet N Wild Max Volume Plus Mascara – I will never complain about getting mascara in a box – I have a never ending supply. That means I have not tested this out yet but I’m sure I will love it!

photo 4-82

Bathery Pumice Stone – This is something that I have never gotten in a sub box before but I didn’t have one! I’m very glad to have gotten this, and it works great to get off dead skin in the shower.

Hollywood Fashion Tape – This is also something I have never gotten but I totally needed! Button up tops are super hard for me, I feel like they are always gaping. I put a little of this on and poof that problem was gone! It was a quick and easy fix.

Overall this was an amazing value for this box – I got about four full size products! Were you able to get one of these boxes?

Rocksbox #4

I am still loving Rocksbox! If you want fun new jewelry each month by great brands (Kendra Scott, Loren Hope) then this subscription is for you! It’s $19 a month (less if you get a longer sub) and you can send back your box as many times in that month as you want! Use code ZARABFF5 when you sign up to get your first month for FREE!

Loren Hope Carson Cuff ($70 to keep) – I really enjoyed wearing this cuff! The bronze metal kind of gives it a tough but glam feel paired with the crystals. It was adjustable so it fit my wrist well.

photo 5-67

Perry Street Olivia Necklace ($60 to keep) – This is from the private label brand by Rocksbox and I love it! My mom actually got this in her box a while back and I wore it and decided I needed it too! I requested it and am so glad I got it. Again it has the bronze paired with crystals and I just love the look if it. It adds a pop of glam to almost any outfit. I ended up buying this and using my shine spend on it.

photo-98

Perry Street Charlotte Earrings ($20 to keep) – These were kind of a miss for me, but I still wore them a few times. I guess I just don’t like the design of them or the yellow gold setting. I like how everything in this box is neutral so you could wear each piece with anything though.

Every box I am consistently impressed with the curation and quality of items! I highly recommend you give Rocksbox a try!

July Birchbox

I know this post is 2 months late-sorry! July’s theme was bold and bright and boy did they deliver! If you don’t know what Birchbox is, it’s a monthly box of five samples for $10 a month. Each month you can pick one sample. This month you could pick your shade of Stila Liquid Lipstick. I’ve been getting Birchbox for a year and a half and I still love it! Their points system is amazing, and keeps me coming back for more. Also picking a sample each month has been fun!

Here’s what I got!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – I have so many mascaras from sub boxes that I’ll never need to buy more! I have actually gotten this sample before and I like it! This is a good but not exceptional mascara.

Coola Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face – This is a lightweight lotion that definitely has a cucumber scent. This fits the bill though for a combo SPF moisturizer. I like getting these types of products in my box.

photo 4-81

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – This is a much raved about brand and a good size sample so I’m happy! This is a dry shampoo and texturizer so it works great to work some life into second day hair. Of course it has their signature scent which is fine for me. I don’t think it provides a ton of volume but it is not sticky or oily which I like.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant – I love the fresh lemony scent of this! It has very fine grains and makes my face super smooth. The full price is so expensive ($78), I would never spend that much on a face product no matter how much I loved it. I think you could find a similar and cheaper product.

photo 3-91photo 2-102

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Venezia – This is a bright punchy coral that is so fun to wear! I always get compliments when I wear a Stila shade. Be careful when you put it on because it really stays! To get it off I use an oil face cleanser and then eye makeup remover too (wipes would probably help as well). I don’t find it drying and it really stays all day with no touch ups needed.

Overall I loved this box and will use every single product! I felt like all were good sample sizes too. What did you get in your July box?
