Target Summer Beauty Box

Target periodically releases these beauty boxes and they always sell out super quick. I was able to snag this one. This is not a subscription but a one time purchase. I believe this one was $7.

Olay Regenerist Luminous Hydraswirls Eye Cream – This is a nice sized sample! It is supposed to reduce the look of undereye darkness which thankfully I don’t have much of yet. I passed this on to my mom. It is a hydrating mixture of gel and cream and had a nice cooling sensation going on.

Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Styling Creme – This item varied in boxes and I am happy with what I got. I have tried their dry shampoo before and liked it but never this product. I used it on damp hair before blowing dry and it was great! Lightweight and non greasy this really did make my hair smoother. It is also a really nice sized sample.

Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads – This is a product I’m not too excited about but will be good for travel!

photo 3-75

Sinful Colors Professional Nail Color in Energetic Red – I appreciate that they included a full size polish and this brand is new to me. It looks similar to a few I have so I might be swapping or gifting it though.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolus – This formula is different because it isn’t waxy like other lipsticks. It provided great color with lasting stay from a few swipes. I really like it! The color is a nice bright red. I would buy more colors if I didn’t already have a bunch of lippies!

As always I’m loving the Target beauty box. It has a great value with several full size or deluxe samples. I hope they keep coming out with these! Were you able to get one?

Naturebox #2

Naturebox is a healthy snack box that we get once a month. It contains five different snacks that we choose. Here are our picks for this month.

photo 2-83

photo 3-76

Coffee Kettle Popcorn – This was the only snack that did not come in a resealable bag so I put it in a plastic bag. If you like classic kettle corn then you’ll like this because the coffee flavor is very subtle. This is a sweet and yummy snack.

photo 4-67

Sticks ‘n Stones – This is a nut mix of cashews, almonds and sesame sticks that I really like! It’s simple but also flavorful and filling.

Guacamole Bites – These were a huge miss for us! We both really like guacamole and had never heard of a snack with that flavor so we were hoping these would taste great. These tasted awful though. As my husband said, like stale Fritos. They are corn chips dusted with a guac flavoring but the flavor profile just didn’t come across as good. I gave these the lowest rating. It also look like these came in a little bit bigger bag than the others which is a bummer.

photo 5-58

Mango Orange Fruit Chews – These come in smaller packs for travel which I love. There are some great fruit snacks from the Target private label that I love and I was hoping these would be similar and they are! They are little bite size pieces of fruit twists and they are delicious.

Lemon Tea Biscuits – This was the snack I was most looking forward to and they are so good. These little cookies are super small (quarter sized) but delicious for snacking. They suggest pairing them with tea but they really taste good anytime!

Our next box should be coming soon and we haven’t even finished all the ones from this month yet!

Birchbox Haul

I recently had a few hauls from Birchbox and thought I would share what I picked up. I was running out of these skin care staples.

photo 4-64

Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator – This light weight moisturizer is a must. Just as the name says it works double duty to eliminate wrinkles and acne. My skin feels refreshed and looks better over time after using this.

Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Pore-Reducing Toner – Paula recently named this as one of her must have products and I agree. This calms oily skin and reduces redness with antioxidants. It also reduces large pores and blackheads. I use this every morning after cleansing.

photo 3-72

This is what I got in my mystery sample pack. I love this Dr Jart Premium Beauty Balm. It is actually a good color for my fair skin, provides coverage and has a high SPF. I am considering buying more or this great kit. Sumita liners are great and this one in Jaipur Gold provides a subtle color pop from normal black or brown.

Zeus Beard Shampoo Verbana Lime

Zeus Beard Shampoo Verbena Lime – My husband uses a beard shampoo daily and I bought this for him to try (Birchbox has a wide variety of men’s products too). It keeps his beard soft and clean and this one has a great tropical scent.

Votivo Candle - pink mimosa

Votivo Candle in Pink Mimosa – Birchbox also has home products. This candle has a great fruity tropical smell and is a blend of strawberries, mimosa and vanilla rum. It has a good throw and burns easily. It is a higher price point than BBW candles but is smaller. I believe the wax is higher quality though.

Found any good beauty finds lately?

Anthropologie Picks

I’ve been working at Anthropologie for about two months and there’s been plenty of cute clothes and accessories to drool over. I thought I would do a round up post featuring some of my current favorites and some of the things that were featured in a mini photo shoot I did with our personal stylist, Myles. Follow mylesofstyleps on Instagram to see more amazing looks from Anthropologie. For each look below she used the Strawberry Hill Skirt (now on sale!) as a base and added a different top and accessories to create unique looks. At first I thought I could never pull of a longer skirt like this since I’m petite, but I ended up loving it!

Kendra Scott Elle Earrings in Chalcedony – I love this pretty mint color! I requested something by Kendra Scott and I’m so glad they listened. This was the item I kept and used my shine spend on.

Perry Street Laurel Necklace – At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this longer statement necklace but after I wore it a few times, I love it! I was really tempted to keep this too because I don’t have anything like it. You’ll probably get something by Perry Street in every box because it is Rocksbox’s private brand. Which also means it is exclusive to them and you won’t see these anywhere else!

Margaret Elizabeth Amalfi Bangle in Labradorite – I really love the multifacted grey stone on this bracelet, but unfortunately it was a little big for my wrist so I only wore it once. My mom recently got a pendant necklace with this same stone and I love it! I requested it for my next box so we’ll see if I get it.

Rocksbox has really fast shipping so I should get a new set soon! I love getting to try out new styles and brands of jewelry without having to actually buy it all!

Makeup with Nancy Salcedo

Hi everyone! I have exciting news…this is my first collaboration! I have known Nancy for years because she is the little sis of my friend Tess. Nancy went to a makeup school in California and I haven’t gotten to see her skills in action yet and I know we both LOVE makeup so I thought hmmm let’s get together!

I’ve had this MAKE palette since I bought the Birchbox Limited Edition Vanity Affair Box back in November (it’s still available here) or you can buy the exclusive to BB palette here on it’s own. I also peppered her with questions about makeup application in general and what products she uses. I got the full works from her and it looked amazing!

My top is from Anthropologie and is still available – Glimmered Tee in copper by Bordeaux. It comes in five colors, three of which we carry in our store at Northpark. It’s the perfect tee to dress up or down and I love the swingy shape. My necklace is available exclusively from Rocksbox – Laurel necklace by Perry Street. It’s a very different and fun statement necklace. Rocksbox is $19 a month and you get three fun jewelry pieces at a time to try out, then you send it back for another box! If you sign up use code ZARABFF5 to get your first month free – totally worth it!

Makeup Edit 3

First Nancy put on foundation using a brush – she used Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation in the lightest shade and Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation in a slightly darker shade to get the perfect color match. I asked her if using a primer was important and she said not for everyday, but could be good for special occasions.

Makeup Edit 6

Next she buffed everything out and mattified using this Revlon Nearly Naked powder in 010 fair. I was happy to see her using so many drug store finds – I can easily pick these up next time I’m grocery shopping.

Makeup Edit 7

Makeup Edit 8

Contouring is something I thought was difficult but Nancy made it really easy using this palette by Kat Von D. She used the light brown shade in the middle of the top row in the hollows of my cheeks from my ear to mid cheek, and up near my temples. The key is to BLEND so it looks natural and adds a touch of warmth. I could also use my normal Smashbox bronzer instead.

Makeup Edit 9

After applying a little blush to my cheeks she used this MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Hilighter which I actually already owned in the color Lightscapade. Put some on the top of your cheek bones and on the bridge of your nose for a nice glow.

Now on to the good stuff – using this awesome eyeshadow palette! Nancy used some of the foundation as an eye primer. She said to always use an eye primer to set everything. First she put the tan shimmery color on the left side called Bentonite Clay as a base color all over my lid. Next she used the dark gray in the bottom right corner called Cast Iron using a fluffy eyeshadow brush to to put it in my crease. Then she used the crazy dark blue on the right called Midnight also on my outer crease. The key again is to BLEND! She went back in with the gray and tan until it was perfectly blended. The light cream shadow in the upper left corner is called Alabaster is is very glittery – this was applied to my lid. This look was great for a night out!

Makeup Edit 12

Time for some liner – Nancy used Maybelline Eyestudio Color Tattoo 24 hour black gel liner. She used a small liner brush to apply this right above my lashes.

Makeup Edit 13

To boost up the drama and plump up my lashes Nancy applied these individual lashes by Ardell that you can get at CVS or other drug stores. I love the way these made my eyes look – they really opened them up. Nancy says she likes these more than strip lashes because they look more natural. Then she put another coat of mascara on to make them pop – she likes Loreal’s Voluminous Original. For my eyebrows she used a little powder to add color and then I introduced her to my favorite product Benefit’s Gimme Brow. It’s a tinted gel that adds color and holds the shape.

Makeup Edit 14

On my lips we chose a natural pink to offset my bold eye look. She used a pink Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar and then layered a Revlon gloss over it for a subtle shimmer. For the finishing touch Nancy applied a makeup setting spray, and ta da my look was complete!

Makeup Edit 15

Nancy does makeup for weddings, senior pictures, date night or whatever event you might need her for. I highly recommend her if you are in the Dallas area! Contact her at nancysalcedomakeup@gmail.com and follow her Instagram nancysalcedomakeup for fun makeup looks. She also does amazing Youtube vidoes – check them out! I hope you enjoyed my first collaboration – thanks so much for reading!

May Birchbox

Hi friends, I hope your day is going great! For May Birchbox partnered with the blog Cupcakes and Cashmere (not one I normally read but I know she’s really popular) to curate boxes. They had a specially decorated box to go along with the partnership. In case you’re not familiar with Birchbox it’s only $10 a month and you get a box of 5 beauty sample goodies! You also get to pick one each month. This is something I look forward to every month – getting a little surprise is so fun! Here’s what I got:

photo 2-78

photo 2-80

photo 1-82

Cotz Flawless Complexion – This has a high SPF which is great, and says blemish free so it won’t clog your pores. It doesn’t have any coverage so wear it under foundation. It sort of had the consistency of a pore blurring product like Pores No More which I don’t love. I would rather use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it.

photo 5-56

Benefit Lollibam – Mannnn I really wanted to like this because it’s Benefit and looks like such a fun purple color, but it provides no color whatsoever and I like a color punch! Basically this is a lipbalm which smooths and softens. It can be layered with the brands Lollitint for more color but I don’t want to have to buy a separate product just for that. This was a bummer.

Marcelle Clay Mask – Y’all the full size is on $15!! Which made me question how good this product was, but it was not bad! It is not very thick at all unlike my Paula’s Choice mask but I thought it was pretty effective at soaking up oil and softening my face. I love getting a big mask sample.

photo 4-65

Aruba Aloe Luxe Foot Cream – Yessss I love this stuff. I stand up a lot at my job and am wearing sandals so my feet can get gross. This is super creamy kind of like a balm and has a very light mint scent. Smells sweet and good to me. I put it on at night and when I wake up my feet are noticeably softer!

Number 4 Thermal Styling Spray – This has an interesting scent but it doesn’t stay all day. I used it on damp hair before drying and straightening and I guess it worked well. I didn’t notice a lot of softness or shine. Not a winner in my book.

And there you have it – another great box. Next month I am getting Dr. Jarts Dermaclear Micro Water which is supposed to take off makeup and cleanse skin. These types of water have been popping up so I am excited to try it!
